What the. . .

I was just reminiscing with a friend about that show Fraggle Rock from the eighties. I don't remember much about it, but I remember I like it. We were trying to figure out though just what the hell they were or what the inspiration for them was. Whatever they were they were way better than the crap kids have now. . .I mean tinky winky? C'mon!

Ah, Fraggle Rock. A CBC staple for like 3-4 years. It was really an all ages show and I was in my early 20's when it was on. I watched it religiously. Always moralistic with a good message in most if not all episodes. My fav characters were the Doozers. Little contruction cats that were constantly busy buliding and muttering.
Another Canadian gem was the original Degrassi Junior High. I was in my late 20's when that was airing and again watched fervently.

Wake up in the morning, feeling shy and lonely,
gee, I gotta go to this school.
I don't think I can make it, don't think I can take,
I wonder what I'm gonna do.
But when I look around and see,
that someone is smiling right at me,
wait, someone talkin' to me, hey, I got a new friend.
Everybody can succeed, all you gotta do is believe,
let's be honest with yourself, forget your fears and doubts,
come on give us a try at Degrassi Junior High.

yep, even remember the theme song...ranks right up there with the Flintstones and Spiderman.

Didn't they just sort of evolve out of the Muppet Show skits? I think they were a rockin' spin on the little guys that yibber-yabber around the professor guy....

Definitely Muppets though. =) And, yes--Vinnie, the CRAP on TV now?? Even my kids know..."Nope, we can't watch that. Mommy says it's a 'crap show'."

;)
