Day 29
I had a very productive day yesterday. I wrote something like 8500 words. It was a veritable diareah of story telling. As of last night I was at 38050 with 11950 to go. I really do think I can get this done especially since I am off work again tomorrow. I just need to get about 2000 words done today and that leaves me with just 10000 left to go in two days. Tough, but doable. . .

Okay, this is a dumb question, one which as an aspiring writer I should know, but... how do you do your word counts? Do you have a program that does it for you?
Please forgive my ignorance.
All that said, I admire your stick-to-it-ness and wish you the best as you approach the finish line!
There is a word count function in Microsoft Word. . .I have it set down at the bottom of the window and I click to update it every couple of paragraphs or so.
knowing that you are using Microsoft Word, presumably on a Microsoft operating system, you might also want to click "Save" every sentence or so. Speaking as one with experience in these things...
Vinnie -- thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I'll have to check into that. To follow up on Gumby's comment -- hope you're saving your stuff on a flash drive (or similar).
I, too, learned the hard way with some of my writing...
