Post Potter?

Already the wags are out trying to guess what the next Harry Potter will be. Did you ever notice that as soon as something phenomenal finishes everybody is trying to find the next whatever it was be it a tv show (Friends, Seinfeld) or book (Harry Potter) or whatever. The "experts" are now trotting out a book called Tunnels by Roderick Gordon and Brian Willams as the next big thing. It is about a boy archaeologist ho discovers a world of adventures after digging a hole. It could be good but calling it the next HP is just setting it up against a cultural milestone. Say what you will about the books but it is hard to deny that they had a huge impact on our pop culture. Since the advent of tv and video games and the Internet did you ever think that teens would go INSANE over a book? I wouldn't and I'm an avid reader. Why don't we all just savor the ending of HP and not try to call out the next big thing. When it comes it won't be the experts who say it is. . .it'll be the readers and their pockets that decide it.
