While some of it was a refreshing change, the pageant itself seemed to be the same old formula with a couple of incongruous updates thrown in, like having all the girls sit on stage in jeans and watch. I do think she could have had a better answer to that question though such as "Parents can use this as a teaching moment to discuss such things as abstinence, birth control, and choice. Whatever is appropriate to each families belief system."
